On the 4th Thursday of each month, individuals from Fairfax UMC provide lunch for the guests of the Lamb Center. The Lamb Center is a local day ministry that provides important services to our underhoused neighbors such as: meals, showers, clothing and other social services.
We are looking for individuals who will purchase, prepare, and deliver individually labelled sandwiches (such as turkey, ham, chicken etc.), individual bagged chips, fruits, veggies, and bottles of juice for 50 guests. You will also need to buy sandwich size ziplock bags to put the sandwiches in and other items (fruit, veggies) as needed. Please be a good steward and try to keep the total cost around $150. Reimbursement is provided by the church when you turn in your receipts. The meal must be delivered to the Lamb Center by 11:00 AM on the 4th Thursday of the month. You are not required to enter the Lamb Center, volunteers will come and retrieve the meals from your vehicle.
There are three different ways to serve in this ministry: shopper, meal assembler or meal deliverer. Please feel free to sign up for one or all of the slots for a given month. This is a great project for families to complete together or a group of separate individuals. If you are an individual completing only one of the tasks, please cordinate with your fellow volunteers.
If you are delivering the lunches but would prefer not to come inside the Lamb Center, feel free to call 703-691-3178 while in the parking lot and someone will come out to your vehicle to pick your donation up.
