Labre Project - SUA Student SignUp
The Toledo Labre Project is active every Monday of the year! Currently, it is a full time collaboration between students and staff of St. Ursula Academy and St. John's Jesuit High School. Named after St. Benedict Joseph Labre, we would be happy to have you as part of this weekly ministry! Labre is a kind of mobile soup kitchen. There are 3 spots we visit. Two are in the old South End and one is on the East Side of Toledo. Depending on the weather, the season of the year, and the time of the month, we serve 50 - 125 people each Monday.
If you sign-up for one or more dates, you are responsible for bringing 3 loaves of bread OR a dessert - 3 dozen cookies or brownies - to that Labre. Other donors supply everything else. You should be at that Monday's location - either St. Ursula OR St. John's Jesuit - by 4:00 p.m. to help with food prep. After serving the food to our guests, Labre always ends with prayer back at the food prep location, usually by 7:30 p.m. Every participant is expected to be with the group this entire time. Finally, if you have signed up for Labre, but discover that you cannot fulfill your responsibility that day, you are asked to find your own replacement AND to email Mr. D about the change at [email protected] In order to participate, every student must have a current, signed, & valid Labre permission slip on file with Mr. D at SUA. Thanks & Welcome:)
