Volunteers will speak to eighth grade students about what it’s like to be an attorney. Students typically enjoy hearing about the exciting stuff – celebrity representation, high profile cases, etc. However, students are also interested in learning about how many different areas of law an attorney can practice. Students find it enlightening to learn that not all lawyers make the same amount of money nor have the same background. Volunteers are encouraged to speak openly about their journey to law school and through their career, the most exciting things about being a lawyer, and also some of the challenges. We also let them know about the Law & Leadership Academy. There are usually 2-10 students with their mentors and the BBBS coordinator.
