STEPMC Meal Outline
We are always looking for ways to help people connect with one another and create intentional friendships-sharing a meal is a great way to start that process!
Program meals are always served on a Monday night in the gym at the Evangelical Covenant Church, 102 S. Washington Street in Lindsborg
Any group providing the meal is welcome to prepare it onsite. The church office opens at 9:00 AM if daytime prep is desired. We only ask any items you use for preparation be cleaned and put back where they belong. Most groups prepare the meal off site and bring in.
Meal sponsors are asked to provide:
Food for about 25 adults and 15 children to include entree, side dish and dessert. Meals can be anything from hot dogs, hamburgers, chips and cookies to casseroles, veggies platter and brownies and everything in between.
STEPMC Community Leaders will provide:
Guidance and support (no meal prep)
Table/chair set-up and tear-down
Drinks, plates, bowls, utensils, napkins, cups
To-Go boxes for leftovers
4:00 to 5:00 PM - Set up/heat up/final cooking
5:00 PM - Meal is served promptly
5:45-6:00 PM – End of meal. Expect a few latecomers due to job schedules.
5:45-6:00 STEPMC groups go to meeting rooms for their sessions.
Divide leftovers evenly into to-go boxes. Set out for families to take home after group sessions.
We ask that you provide 2 to 4 servers to ensure that there is enough to feed everyone and that everyone gets a nice plate of food. Our main goal is to begin and end service on time but to also be sure that everyone who comes in has the opportunity to be fed even if they have to take their meal in a box to their meeting room. For some, this may be the only decent, home-cooked meal they and their children get all week. Sometimes, scheduling conflicts can change the number of people in attendance for an evening. We ask that leftover foods be divided and sent home with families.
After the meal has been served, you and your group are welcome, and encouraged, to make a plate, sit with us, break bread and perhaps learn more about what STEPMC is doing. After the meal, members will go to their meetings. These meetings are when our Team Leaders and their Team Partners discuss and plan upcoming needs and events, or attend programming to build skills and resources to escape poverty.
