We are excited to welcome artists from the Friends of Wellesley College Botanic Gardens (WCBG Friends) for an art exhibit that will run from May 3 - May 12 in Flora, Mass Hort's Visitor Center.
Art docent volunteers are needed to welcome visitors, answer questions about the artists and their work and provide general information about the gardens and WCBG Friends. Volunteers should enjoy interacting with the public and have basic knowledge/experience with Mass Hort.
The exhibit will consist of work from four artists graduating from the certificate program of Friends of Wellesley College Botanic Gardens: Marsha L. Helmstadter, Diane S. Piktialis, Doris Sheils, and Kaoru Takaishi.
WCBG Friends celebrates the accomplishments of their tenth class of certificate recipients featured in this exhibit, presenting work from their final projects for the Certificate in Botanical Art and Illustration.
WCBG Friends offers lectures and workshops that present new ideas, research, and critical thinking about the role plants play in the world today. Art programs focus on watercolor painting and botanical art. WCBG Friends offer a Certificate in Botanical Art and enjoys a close relationship with the New England Society of Botanical Artists, a chapter of the American Society of Botanical Artists. WCBG Friends is a co-sponsoring partner with Massachusetts Horticultural Society and run classes at The Gardens at Elm Bank year-round which are open to the public.
