Job Descriptions
Early Check In - Check in cyclists at the Port Angeles Visitors Center in the days before the ride to reduce lines on ride morning. This job involves scanning registrations, checking waiver lists, handing out jerseys and ride packets.
Ride Day Registration - Check in participants the morning of the ride, checking waiver lists, handing out jerseys and ride packets, serving coffee and donuts.
Cheering Section - This is a VERY fun job of waiting at the top of the ridge to celebrate as cyclists achieve the summit. Feel free to whistle, cheer, or bring bells. Drive up to the top before the road is closed to vehicles, bring a chair, and we'll provide a canopy for cover. This job includes a very special time when you and the other volunteers have the top of the ridge all to yourselves, before cyclists start to arrive. Please note that the road is closed to motor vehicles until noon, so these volunteers must stay until after noon when the road reopens to motor vehicles.
Aid Station Support - This job is staffing aid stations along the route, handing out snacks, water, gatorade and band aids. Support and encouragment for the cyclists is just as important as the food and water, so this is a great job for those who like to inspire. Experienced volunteers who have done this for many years will be there to help.
First Shift Post-ride Party Setup & Help - Help set up and cover tables, ice down beverages, and get the pier area ready for returning cyclists. May also include cheering cyclists at the finish line.
Second Shift Post-ride Party Help & Breakdown - Help ceate a friendly, fun, and relaxing vibe for the cyclists who worked so hard on their accomplishment. Greet cyclists, serve beverages, monitor entrance to the beer garden, and whatever else is needed to facilitate the party. If you worked one of the shifts on the mountain and would like to continue helping after you head down at noon, we would LOVE your help!
