Gifts for the Homeless, Inc.
We are happy to announce our annual Washington, DC-area-wide used clothing drive for the homeless. This month-long event rallies the legal community (law firms, law departments, government agencies, legal vendors, and interested individuals) to collect gently-used clothing and other items that we will sort, bag and deliver to more than 50 homeless service providers on the weekend of December 1st.
By signing up, here is what you are committing to do:
1. Organize, publicize and run your own "feeder" clothing drive in your office at some point during the month of November 2018. Some organizations do it for the full month, others just the last week. It is completely up to you! Note that Gifts for the Homeless, Inc. will provide you with tons of support -- sample messages and flyers, donation receipts, ideas for contests and other fun things that help your employees not only empty their closets, but open the hearts and minds to the homelessness situation in our city.
2. Deliver your contributions to our sorting site -- 2300 N Street, NW -- on Friday, November 30, 2018.
3. Solicit volunteers to work with us to sort, bag and deliver the clothing (Friday, November 30th and Saturday, December 1st).
4. If you are willing and able, solicit monetary donations on our behalf to help us by NEW clothing and other necessities for this same homeless population.
That's all there is to it! So if you have been with us for twenty-five years, or this is your first year, we welcome your participation.
