North Decatur Children and Family
A new spin on VBS, a team of two volunteers will come to your backyard or outdoor public space and teach your kids about the power and strength of God through storytelling, dancing, crafts, games and more! Your children wil be transported to North Castle and train to be knights by learning about the Armour of God: Belt of Truth, Breastplate of Justice, Shoes of Peace and Helmet of Salvation. They will learn stories from the Bible that demonstrate people accomplishing great things by trusting in God, "be strong in the Lord and in the strength of God's power (Ephesians 6:10)."
There are 2 sessions available, A & B, each teaching different Bible stories. VBS sessions will be availble July 6, 7, 8 and 9 from 5pm-7pm and July 20, 21, 22, 23 from 10 am-12pm. Sessions will last for 2 hours, volunteers will arrive to get set up in your backyard 30 minutes early. Volunteers will maintain 6 feet of social distance from your children for the entire session and wear masks. We ask that your child(ren) wear masks (bandanas/face covering) also. Material packs will be avaialble to pickup from the church 1 week before your scheduled session and will contain everything your child(ren) needs to participate in the VBS activities. Adults will not need to be present with their child(ren) in the backyard (go take a bubble bath, or watch a movie in peace!).
For families without private backyards, we can arrange to meet you in a public space that is convenient. Adults will need to stay in the vacinity for these sessions, but do not need to participate (bring a folding chair and a good book and enjoy a little downtime!).
Session A: Belt of Truth-Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego Stand True (Daniel 3) and Shoes of Peace-Mary's Journey to Bethlehem (Luke 2:1-20)
Session B: Breastplate of Justice-David Defeats Goliath (1 Samuel 17:1-50a) and Helmet of Salvation-Midnight Praise with Paul and Silas (Acts 16:16-40)
Finally, for families that are not able to participate in these VBS sessions, you will be able to pick up material packs with instructions for leading your own family through the stories and activities. Sign-up slots for material packs only can be found below on June 29, 30.
Please review the available slots below and click on the button to sign up. You can sign up for (1) slot of session A, (1) slot of Session B, or (1) of each. To do both Session A & B, you will need to sign up on two different days. Let us know if you have any questions. Thank you!
