Adjunct(s)’ Matters is a professional development opportunity designed specifically to engage and support adjunct faculty members by providing information pertaining to institutional knowledge and resources, campus services, teaching and learning resources, and college policies. Virtual meetings are held on Thursdays at 12:00pm.
THE STRUCTURE AND FUNCTION OF QCC
The Structure and function of QCC session will include an exploration of the QCC organizational chart, mission, vision and value statements and how all areas of the college work together to achieve the identified college goals.
COLLEGE POLICIES, PROCEDURES, and TRADITIONS
Using the Faculty Resource Booklet and the QCC Intranet page as a foundation, participants will explore various QCC traditions, policies, procedures, services, and resources available to faculty, staff, and students.
PEOPLE TO KNOW and HOW THEY CAN HELP
QCC employs more than 1,300 people. As a member of the college community, it is beneficial to know who’s who and how they can assist you in your position as a faculty member. In this session, participants will discover how and where to access help when necessary.
FACULTY SENATE/ADJUNCT FACULTY AFFAIRS
The Faculty Senate as a council member of QCC Governance functions to promote teaching and learning, faculty development, welfare, and morale, and it develops and recommends policies and guidelines in all areas of Faculty responsibility. Participants will explore the QCC Faculty Senate, the Adjunct Faculty subcommittee, and the Adjunct Faculty Blackboard site.
Colleagues are those individuals united in a common purpose and who respect each other’s abilities to work together toward that purpose. QCC collegial relationships are the associations between and among colleagues characterized by trust, respect and shared purpose in creating equitable student-centered significant learning experiences. In this session, participants will explore opportunities to develop collegial relationships at Faculty Senate, school, and department meetings, Governance committees, adjunct faculty gatherings, conferences, workshops, college book clubs, college gatherings, and other professional development activities.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT ACTIVITIES
QCC understands that our greatest resources are our human resources. It is with this in mind that professional development is encouraged and supported through professional development grants. In this session, participants will learn about travel and tuition, department, and mini- grants to support personal professional growth.
