We are excited to announce a new volunteer opportunity with Habitat for Humanity (HFH). Each year the Durham chapter of HFH builds over 25 homes for families in underserved neighborhoods. Most of the homes feature 3 bedrooms, and families of each home must contribute at least 250 hours toward construction. Creekside Cares hopes to recruit 9 volunteers and one volunteer leader to assist at one of these build project sites.
Depending on the progress of the home we are assigned to, we may be asked to do any number of projects including framing, landscaping, painting, site clean-up, or other miscellaneous tasks.
We now have our second, third and fourth build dates scheduled. Please review the details in the slots section of the sign-up. Volunteer time is 8:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. Volunteers will be asked to apply and register in the HFH volunteer system Giveffect. We will carpool from Hemingway Hall at 8:00 a.m.
Volunteers are welcome to bring their own tools, tool belt, and hard hat. We suggest you label all personal items, as tools may be passed around during our session. A hard hat is provided to all volunteers to wear during your shift. Hard hats are returned at the end of your shift for the next volunteers. Sturdy, closed toe shoes are required for safety at the site. You should also bring your own labeled water bottle/jug. Let's all stay hydrated!
