A Better Way NYC
A Better Way NYC's work is only getting started. We applaud NYC Comptroller Scott Stringer's announcement, accusing Mayor de Blasio of "failing to weigh his options for the upcoming BQE rehab, a $3.6 billion project that's expected to disrupt motorists and residents for several years."
And "the DOT has failed to engage the surrounding neighborhoods in a substantive manner, and has not been sufficiently transparent regarding alternatives to the current project.”
The Friday before Christmas, a joint press release from Levin, Kavanaugh, and Simon criticized the highway plans saying that both of the options the city has proposed so far would have significant and profoundly problematic impacts on the communities we represent, and that all plausible alternatives need to be fully considered before the project receives federal, state and city approval."
But the plan is still not off the table. We need them to take more action.
It's time to take our efforts to the next level and expand our reach. We would like to show a strong presence for one week at key locations the week of January 7th to make our our elected officials know we are committed to fight this battle.
