Urban Farm at Maglio Tomato
Please note the different locations when signing up!
The Riverwest Food Pantry, Groundwork MKE, and Maglio Tomato are partnering together to grow and harvest fresh produce with and for our community. We are growing thousands of pounds of produce and we need your help! Our community is motivated to serve the highest quality produce to those who don’t often have access to it. That is why we are so excited for these partnerships to help reinvigorate the Maglio Urban Farm Site.
Please wear clothes that you are ready to get dirty in, pants, bug spray, and sunscreen.
We don't allow drop in volunteers, so make sure to sign up before you show up to the farm! We will contact you if the farm volunteer slot has been canceled. If there is any question of whether the volunteer slot is canceled, please double check to see if it is still on the sign up genius. If it is no longer on the sign up genius it is canceled.
The Maglio site, 4287 North Port Washington Rd, is where we will be growing the produce for the pantry. To access the site, go to the north parking lot of the Maglio Companies building. You can park in the parking lot. Proceed through the chain link fence at the end of the lot to acces the farm.
The Groundwork office, 227 West Pleasant St, is where we will be preparing transplants for the Maglio site. Enter 2nd street off either Galena or Cherry, and find street parking on 2nd. Go to the East side of the Golda Meir School and find the door labled number 10, this will be the Groundwork office. You can call Matt Rudman at 414-899-2603 to be let in. If door is propped open proceed up the stairs.
The Woodshop is located at 148 South 2nd St. At the woodshop we will be building things such as transplant tables and wash stations for the Maglio site and other local gardens. When you get to the woodshop, please call Nick Montezon at 414-578-7520 to be let into the woodshop for the 2/20 and 2/23 woodshop days.
