Come join us for a easy spring family hike in the Sacramento area.
This is an easy hike targeted at beginners with no elevation gain.
Webelos scouts will complete their Naturalist activity badge. Younger scouts can work on a wildlife/habitat scavenger hunt like activity.
The hike is on a paved trail in a small perennial marsh area in a national wildlife refuge.
Where: Consumnes River Preserve, 3501 Franklin Blvd, Galt, CA
When: Meet at 9:45 AM at Safeway (Woodcreek and Blue Oaks)
Who: Anyone, including friends and family members
Trail Distance: 3.5 miles (2 mile loop option)
Trail Difficulty: EASY (ideal for scouts of all ages)
Trail Description: Flat trail through sloughs, marsh area
Meeting Place: South side of Safeway Parking Lot (near gas station) Participating families will be meeting at Safeway at 9:45 AM. We will try to be on the road by 10:00 AM.
What to bring: Class B uniform, comfortable walking clothes, close-toed shoes, water, and a hat. Water/ Drinks and Snack or lunch for when we get to our destination
Directions: Take I-5 south from Sacramento and exit at Twin Cities Rd. Turn left and drive 0.5 miles to Franklin Rd. Turn right on Franklin Rd and drive .8 miles. The park will be on your left.
Trail Gathering: We will gather in the parking lot
