40 Days for Life
Volunteers are needed for one hour shifts on Tuesday, October 30 to be a peaceful, prayerful presence on the sidewalk in front of the Planned Parenthood abortion clinic in St. Louis as part of the world-wide 40 Days for Life prayer vigil. We pray for an end to abortion, for the babies lost, for healing for the parents, for conversion of the workers. And we pray for those women that turn around and have their babies, and in thanksgiving for the generosity of those that offer support to these young families. This is NOT a political event, but an outpouring of Christian love and unity.
There must be a minimum of 2 pray-ers every hour, but more is better! Please sign up, and bring a friend or family member. We'd love to expand the number of participants and get a bunch of first timers to join us on the sidewalk! St. Joseph Parish has been participating in this 40 day prayer vigil for many years, along with other parishes and churches and we need new people to join us in this effort. This year we have only a half day, 1-7PM. Let's fill the sidewalk!
Instructions - Arrive just before your scheduled hour, sign in, take a sign from the sign box, and maintain a quiet hour of prayer. There are suggested prayers on the back side of the sign. Follow the code of conduct (safety first, respect the law, use only the signs provided, no political activity)
Parking - street parking within a few blocks along S. Boyle or Laclede Avenue
Sidewalk counseling - there will be a trained Sidewalk Counselor from the Coalition for Life present during your shift. Your role is not to counsel, rather just to be present in prayer.
