Trails of Oak Creek 2020
Summer is right around the corner and for Christ Church that means Feeding Kids at Trails of Oak Creek!!!
Like so much of this last year, approaches and methods have had to change. As a result the serve opportunity with the Trails of Oak Creek has also adapted in order to provide a safe environement for both those beiong served and those serving. Unfortunately, our tradition of preparing food, servingfood and playing games will not be something we are able to do this year. None the less we are able to serve and provide in part what is needed within this community.
The food bags will contain a daily breakfast and lunch prepared by Kettering City Schools staff at Greenmont Elementary School. Volunteers will be picking the bags up and bringing them over to the Trails of Oakcreek to distribute. As you know, we will need guidelines requiring gloves and masks for all who are serving, provinding a safe environment for both those being served and those serving. I know we are all seeking the same outcomes - keeping both the kids and volunteers safe!
- Cleaning standards of surfaces (such as table used) will need to be done regularly.
- We will have a "system" set up so that the distribution location will allow for the children/adults in line to stay six feet apart as they wait and for them to be able to pick up the bags from a table to allow for the six-ft distance.
When considering which dates to sign up for please respect a one person per slot policy. In the past we have encouraged much larger numbers to participate and mulitple person per slot. But, in respect for the guidlines being asked of us from the city and in being responsible servants we will restrict the number of volunteers to four per day.
I am grateful for the generous and willing hearts that have given so much through this time of pandemic.
