Important: Please make sure to sign up everyone in your group who plans to attend. Due to the narrow trail conditions for this hike, attendance is limited to 40 people. Please let us know if you need to cancel.
Hike Information: Take a rugged 3-mile off-trail hike to the nature preserve to see some of the 300-year old Giant Sycamore trees. We will be walking on narrow paths across narrow ravine edges to reach our destination. Please be aware of the following: Hike is off-trail through fields and up and down very steep ravines. Expect some ravines to have a 60-75 degree angle. This hike can be difficult for anyone having knee or back issues. Please bring a walking stick to help navigate through the forest and aid in climbing slopes. Backpack with water, bug spray and snack is highly encouraged. Due to the rough terrain, hiking boots or study shoes are required. Recent rains will greatly impact the trail. Portions of the trail can be eroded away leading us to create a new pathway for the hike. Please arrive 10-15 minutes early to allow us to check in registrants and start the hike promptly at 11 am. Expect hike to take 2 hours. Dress for the weather and off-trail conditions.
Meeting spot: Program meets in the Oak Coves picnic area, first left after you enter the park. Follow the orange program signs, and meet in front of the restrooms.
