The Kidconscious Project
Around 20,000 refugees will settle in The United States in 2019. They have fled immense prosecution, starvation, war, etc. Families begin new lives in the country with very little and kids start school with a lack of necessary items like clothes and school supplies. Denver Health Foundation created a program called R.O.C.K. (Refugee Outreach Clothing Kids). The Kidconscious Project is excited to pair up with their team to collect school supplies and create backpacks for refugee kids they support starting school in the fall. Kids and parents can help build the backpacks that will be given to the families during their check-up before the first day of school. All school supplies and items must be new to be accepted.
There are a few ways to participate in this project:
- Sign up to attend the event on August 16th to hear from a refugee family and help compile backpacks with donated school supplies
- If you are unable to attend the event but would still like to participate, you can sign up to purchase any of the listed items below; and/or make a donation for supplies by venmo'ing venmo.com/kidconsciousproject
Our goal is to raise supplies to fill 50 backpacks! Denver Health Foundation will provide the backpacks so please refrain from purchasing them. Attendees of the event will hear from a speaker about their experience with the refugee community and how it impacts Denver. If you are unable to attend the event but plan to buy supplies, please email [email protected] to arrange a delivery or pick up point for the supplies prior to the event.
