Charlotte Family Housing Volunteers
The Resident Advisers for our three shelters meet hold a team meeting twice a month. During these meetings Charlotte Family Housing needs volunteers to fill in for the RAs at our Plaza Place Shelter. The RA Volunteer's primary responsibilty it to buzz residents in and out of the shelter during their shift. Beyond that, volunteers are encouraged to introduce themselves to residents as they come in and be on hand in case there are emergent issues.
Volunteers will be provided with the contact information of the RA on duty that evening in the event of an emergency or a situation they cannot resolve.
Volunteers should plan to arrive at Plaza Place by 5:30 PM to meet the RA on duty, exchange contact information, and receive any relevant information. Volunteers should enter the shelter through the front or side doors. Please note, that you will need to use the intercom next to the door to enter the building.
All volunteers must complete a background check through Verified Volunteers, even if you have previously volunteered with Charlotte Family Housing. A link to the background check will be sent to you after you sign up. Please be on the look out for an email from [email protected]
