Science Museum Oklahoma
From 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sept. 29 Science Museum Oklahoma will host its second annual Tinkerfest! Presented by Oklahoma EPSCoR, this one-day celebration of curiosity, creativity, and exploration will encompass the entire museum and grounds. Museum admission and all activities will be free to the public. During the inaugural Tinkerfest in 2017, Science Museum Oklahoma welcomed over 50 guest tinkerers, artists and makers and more than 100 volunteers. We broke the museum's all-time attendance record and we could not have done it without our amazing volunteers!
Tinkerfest 2018 is anticipated to have over 60 activities including a car take-apart, opportunities to use raw materials and tools to create unique machines, rocket launching, art exploration using ordinary objects in unusual ways, and numerous building and crafting activities.
Volunteer tasks include helping at tinkering booths (these may include building cardboard cars, taking apart electronics, or weaving), providing lunch breaks for volunteers and staff, helping to stock booths throughout the day, and bus greeting.
Volunteers must be 16 years old or older and volunteer shifts vary throughout the day. Volunteer check-in will begin at 8:15 a.m. on Sept. 29. Individual volunteers as well as groups from businesses and organizations are welcome! You will receive lunch, two (2) complimentary tickets to Science Museum Oklahoma as thanks for volunteering with us, as well as a Tinkerfest t-shirt. You will receive the passes and t-shirt at volunteer check-in.
