Each volunteer (individual, family, or group) is signing up to provide all of the food items for that week’s Lion Packs as well as actually packing the bags. We call you amazing people "Pack Builders."
We will be using paper grocery sacks (please double-sack) or the sturdy plastic bags from Aldi. If you cannot provide your own, we can provide some to you. We don't know exactly how many bags we will need each week, but you will know a final number at least two weeks before your bags are due. Families are still signing up, but we estimate that we will need anywhere from 30-50 bags each week.
Now that sounds like a lot of bags (and it is!), but remember that you can divide up the work between neighbors, a scout troup, volunteer organization, teenagers that need service, or religious groups.
Currently, packs will be going home with students on Friday afternoons, so we need to have the packed bags at the school by Thursday afternoon (that is the date that you will be volunteering for, but it will take some planning before that to build your packs). We will arrange with each volunteer the best way to get the Lion Packs to us.
We will reach out, via email, and will be available to help with suggestions, food lists, stores, typical prices, and any questions you may have during this process. Our Facebook and Instagram @lipscombpeacepantry may also be helpful.
Your food purchases can be a donation or you can be reimbursed (via a simple form – just save your receipts!).
*If this sign up is full, but you'd still like to help, please email us at [email protected] and we will work together to find a way for you to be involved!
