Highland Presbyterian Church
“Finding Hope in the Wilderness”
Each year the people of Highland Presbyterian Church write for a devotion booklet for Lent that is shared by the congregation and provides inspiration to many. This year our church is in a place of transition following the retirement of a beloved Pastor. We also find ourselves experiencing isolation and disorientation due to the ongoing pandemic. In many ways, we are in a wilderness unique to 2020-21, facing the challenge to prepare ourselves for the 2021 Holy Week.
This year’s theme is “Finding Hope in the Wilderness.” We challenge you to select a scripture and let it guide you to a story or interpretation that offers a perspective of hope to your church community. Photographs that you may have taken can also be submitted.
For your convenience, a list of 62 passages (with the actual text from the NRSV) is HERE. We need 46 devotionals to publish a devotional booklet that begins on the day after Ash Wednesday and runs through Easter.
It would be helpful if devotionals could be emailed to Rob ([email protected]) by Wednesday, February 3, 2021.
