We have set the schedule for our Small Claims Ask-A-Lawyer program, and now we are delighted to be able to call for volunteers to provide brief consultations! At these sessions, there will be a maximum of 8 litigants signed up to receive a pro bono 15-minute consultation regarding their small claims matter. The sessions will be held in a morning shift, from 10am to 12pm, and in an afternoon shift, from 1pm-3pm at the Civil Law Self-Help Center at the Regional Justice Center (200 Lewis Ave.), [PLEASE NOTE DURING COVID ALL CONSULTATIONS WILL CONDUCTED TELEPHONICALLY WITH THE ATTORNEY CALLING THE CUSTOMER] on the dates listed below. Volunteers are asked to arrive at the Civil Law Self-Help Center (on the first floor of the RJC) a little before 1pm to sign-in. The Self Help Center staff will be there to get you set up in the conference room to begin your consultations.
Also, if it has been a while since you last volunteered, or if you are new to the Small Claims Ask-A-Lawyer program, attached is the Small Claims Ask-A-Lawyer Volunteer Manual. Please review the manual before volunteering. The manual includes a list of community resources that you may want to refer individuals to depending on their circumstances.
PLEASE NOTE: If your schedule changes and you are unable to attend, please IMMEDIATELY notify me by email at firstname.lastname@example.org or by phone at 702-386-1429. Volunteers will be the only attorney scheduled for this program. If you cannot attend, we’ll need to find a replacement ASAP or we will be forced to cancel the session.
Thank you so much for your participation!
