Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS)
The Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors is seeking volunteers to support our Southern Regional Military Survivor Seminar and Good Grief Camp in Dallas, TX from February 21-23, 2020.
About the Seminar: TAPS Survivor Seminars are inspirational programs of support, bringing together adult and child survivors for a weekend of hope and healing. By bringing together peer professionals, subject matter experts, mental health clinicians, and TAPS Peer Mentors, TAPS will come alongside military survivors to walk the grief journey together. TAPS Good Grief Camp, the youth survivor-focused program for children and teens, provides a safe and supportive atmosphere for activities and opportunities to develop coping skills, establish and identify support systems and create awareness that they are not alone in the grief of their loved one.
Volunteers are at the very heart of TAPS, and they are essential for a successful seminar weekend. There are many volunteer opportunities available throughout the weekend. Roles include:
- Seminar pack-in and set-up
- Family check-in
- Event photographer
- TAPS Store sales
- Program logistics
- Seminar pack-out
All volunteers will be provided a TAPS volunteer t-shirt and name tag that will identify them as a part of our volunteer staff. Volunteers are welcome to join TAPS staff for meals during their shift. A final details email will be sent to volunteers from our office with all of the information needed to arrive prepared.
