Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS)
The Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors is recruiting volunteers to support our National Military Suicide Survivor Seminar and Good Grief Camp in Dallas, TX from October 8-11, 2021.
About the Seminar: TAPS Survivor Seminars are inspirational programs of support, bringing together adult and child survivors for a weekend of hope and healing. By bringing together peer professionals, subject matter experts, mental health clinicians, and TAPS Peer Mentors, TAPS will come alongside military survivors to walk the journey together. TAPS Good Grief Camp, the youth survivor-focused program for children and teens, provides a safe and supportive atmosphere for activities and opportunities to develop coping skills, establish and identify support systems, and create awareness that they are not alone in the grief of their loved one.
Volunteers are at the very heart of TAPS, and they are essential for a successful seminar weekend. There are many volunteer opportunities available throughout the weekend to include:
- Greeting survivors arriving at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport
- Seminar set-up
- Family check-in
- TAPS Store
- Event photographer
- Daily Seminar Logistics
- Seminar pack-out
Please note, all volunteers must be fully vaccinated, those attending in-person will adhere to the CDC and WHO standard event safety protocols.
All volunteers will be provided a yellow TAPS t-shirt and name tag that will identify them as a part of our volunteer staff. Volunteers are welcome to join TAPS staff for meals during their shift. A final details email will be sent to volunteers before the event with all of the information needed to arrive prepared. Any questions should be directed to [email protected] or 202-588-TAPS (8277).
