Sierra State Parks Foundation
Hello fellow park lover,
Thank you for your interest in volunteering to help revitalize the Hellman-Ehrman estate's garden areas!
Together we will: 1) Revitalize the historical garden areas to resemble their historical appearance; 2) Elevate the park’s welcoming atmosphere and positive visitor experience; 3) Highlight the cultural heritage and natural resources of Sugar Pine Point State Park.
We’re so excited about the special projects that we get to host this summer at our parks! We have worked diligently with CA State Parks to incorporate COVID guidelines and ensure everybody’s safety.
Here are the details:
When: Every Wednesday, starting on June 16th to September 15th, from 9 am to 11 am.
Where: Jamie, the Volunteer Coordinator, will always meet volunteers at the Sugar Pine Point State Park's Visitor Center before walking together to the gardens. Please note that Volunteers must check-in and out with Jamie for the purpose of recording volunteers' completed hours.
Parking will also be free, as special State Park parking permits will be issued to volunteers every time we meet.
We encourage each volunteer to bring:
- A face mask
- A pair of gardening gloves
- Gardening tools (tools are available to borrow upon request, too!)
- Close-toed shoes
- Light snacks
What we'll do:
- Plant native flowers and shrubs
- Apply organic fertilizer and mulch
- Light weeding
- Prune or trim
- Remove debris
- Have fun!
Please select and sign-up for the specific day(s) that you can volunteer for below!
The Sierra State Parks Foundation (SSPF) believes that the Lake Tahoe and Donner area California State Parks are unique treasures worthy of our support. We fund projects and educational programs that connect people with our rich natural resources and cultural heritage.
