St Peter Parish
THE EUCHARIST IN THE BIBLE
The Church teaches that the Eucharist is the Source and Summit of the Catholic Faith. The Eucharist is celebrated every time we attend Mass. The Eucharist is the cornerstone of our Catholic identity.
When will the study be offered? Beginning the week of September 12, it will be offered on Monday evenings at 6:00 pm in the St. Peter Cafe and then repeated on Tuesday afternoons at 2:00 pm in the Adult Faith Room. There will be a total of 10 sessions.
What will you learn? The video Bible Study is entitled Lectio: Eucharist: Discovering the Mass in the Bible, from St. Augustine Institute. This 10-part series digs down to the biblical roots of the Eucharist, through its foreshadowing in the miraculous events of the Old Testament, the Gospels, and Apostolic teaching.
Who should attend? The Bible Study is for both the beginner and the advanced Bible study participant. The study guide provided to all who attend is designed for use by both audiences. There is no charge for the study guide, however if you are able, a $10 good-will offering is appreciated.
How do I register? To assist in knowing how many participants plan to attend and how many study guides are needed, there will be a registration form on our parish website, www.stpstc.org, where you can sign up. You can also register by calling the parish office at 636-946-6641.
Why should I attend? The Bible study can:
1. Give you a deeper understanding of both the Old & New Testaments of the Bible and the teachings of the Church.
2. Help you understand the great mystery of God’s gift of the Real Presence of Jesus in the Eucharist.
3. Help you develop a deeper encounter with Jesus Christ every time you come to celebrate the Eucharist with the community of faith.
4. Help you to be better prepared for a holy Advent and Christmas season. (The study will conclude just prior to the First Sunday of Advent).
May the Peace & Joy of Christ be with you.
