2022 Race Day Volunteers

Welcome Volunteers!

Steps for Students takes a lot of planning and preparation to run smoothly. It also takes volunteers. It is because of people like you, who make it a priority to help promote Catholic education, that we are able to host such a successful event every year.

Please read the description of each volunteer position which includes the date, time and physical ability before making your choice. After selecting a position, click on the "Sign Up" button within your selection, scroll down and click on the "Submit and Sign UP" button. This page will allow you to review your selection one final time and if you wish to provide any additional information you may do so in the comment box. If you are signing up more than one person, you will need to change the number in the "Quantity" section. *Please provide the names of the volunteers in the comment box. Click on the "Submit and Sign Up" button one more time and you are done!

We do ask that you arrive 10-15 minutes prior to your shift to follow a quick Covid protocol check. We do ask that volunteers wear a mask for the safety of our participants as well as the volunteers but is not mandatory. If you are working a water stop or food station a mask is required. If you have any questions please email [email protected]

4:45- 6:30am Catholic School Village Traffic Control and Load In (15)

Volunteers will unload cars and deliver items to the Catholic School Village. They will also help direct traffic to the loading zone.

4:45-8:30am Volunteer Hospitality- Shift 1 (6)

Volunteers will setup the volunteer booth. They will ensure all volunteers sign-in, sign waivers, receive vests, and direct volunteers to their placement.

 

5:00-7:00am Race Site Decoration (20)

Volunteers will make sure that the race site looks festive by covering tables, blowing up balloons and distributing decorations around the race site.

 

5:00-8:00am Floater (20)

Volunteers will be assigned on the day of the race to fill volunteer needs.

 

5:30-8:00am Info Booth-Shift 1-Bilingual (4)

Volunteers will provide general race and event information to participants/attendees. They will also maintain any lost/found items.

 

6:00-9:30am T-shirt Distribution (4)

Volunteers will provide new registrants with t-shirts and organize and pack any remaining shirts.

6:30-8:00am Refreshment Booth Setup (10)

Volunteers will set up tables and organize waters, fruit and snacks. They will also prepare boxes for easy restocking as needed.

6:30-9:30am Race Day Guides (20)

Bilingual helpful. Volunteers will distribute race information, share timelines and circulate among the crowd to make sure everyone is headed in the right direction.

7:00-9:30am Water Station ##1 (15)

Volunteers will setup water cups and trash bins and provide water to runners/walkers as they pass. When the last person passes, they will clean up, breakdown table and return unused water/supplies.

 

7:00-9:30am Water Station ##2 (15)

Volunteers will setup water cups and trash bins and provide water to runners/walkers as they pass. When the last person passes, they will clean up, breakdown table and return unused water/supplies.

 

7:00-10:00am Finish line Water Station (15)

Volunteers will setup water cups and trash bins and provide water to runners/walkers as they pass. When the last person passes, they will clean up, breakdown table and return unused water/supplies.

 

7:45-10:00am Finish Line Marshall (20)

Volunteers will help keep the finish line clear of congestion. They will direct finishers to the water station and back towards the Village.

 

8:00-10:30am Info Booth-Shift 2-Bilingual (4)

Volunteers will provide general race and event information to participants/attendees. They will also maintain lost/found items. After the race they will organize materials for storage & report unclaimed items to race director.

Volunteers will provide refreshments to participants. After the race they will clean and organize remaining refreshments.

8:30am- 11:30am Volunteer Hospitality- Shift 2 (6)

Volunteers will ensure all volunteers sign-in, sign waivers, receive vests and are directed to their placement. After the race, they will collect all remaining volunteer vests.

 

8:00-10:30am Floater (20)

Volunteers will be assigned on the day of the race to fill volunteer needs.

 

9:30-11:30am Course Sweeper (20)

Physically strenuous. Volunteers will work with race directors to break down all race course tents, tables and chairs.

 

10:00 am-11:30 pm Signage Sweeper (20)

Volunteers will take down race signage.

 

10:00am- 11:30 am Post-Race Party Sweeper (40)

Physically strenuous. Volunteers will take down tables, chairs and tents from the post race party and deliver to staging area. They will also take trash to dumpster.
