This year, the Amherst schools Parent Guardian Organizations, with the ARPS Family Center, are holding our annual Winter Coat Collection & Distribution remotely.
An unprecedented number of Amherst children are in need of warm outdoor clothing. Our FOCUS IS ON COLLECTING NEW (and gently used) WARM WINTER COATS for over 90 Amherst children, size pre-K through adult. Some children also need winter boots; donations of water-resistant mittens/gloves appreciated, too!
There are outdoor dropoff bins located at the following locations:
- Crocker Farm school (front door)
- Fort River school (front door)
- Amherst Reg Middle School (front door)
- Amherst Reg High School (front door)
- Amherst Visitor Information Center (next to Hastings) weekdays 10am-2pm
- 51 Blue Hills Road (ARPS PGO Treasurer Tracy Zafian)
(At the schools, please don't put your donations in the Bay State Textile collection. We don't have the key to open those bins & retrieve them)
You can see the current list of needed items below. Please indicate what you're donating and where you are dropping it off. Note that your email is not required.
Please put your donations in plastic bags and make sure all clothing is clean and in good condition with working zippers. Our goal is to collect this first round of clothing by Monday, December 14. If you need someone to pick up your clothing donation, please contact your school’s PGO or [email protected].
In addition to the donated clothing, we are hoping to collect $2,000 to buy any needed winter clothes that aren't donated. You may donate online at tinyurl.com/coats2020 or you may send a check (payable to ARPS PGO) or gift cards to: ARPS Winter Coat Drive, c/o Tracy Zafian, 51 Blue Hills Road, Amherst.
If your children are in need of winter clothing, please contact Mildred Martínez, ARPS Family Center, at [email protected] or (413) 362-1871.
Thank you for supporting this critical need and for helping ARPS families stay warm this winter.
