Shelton Science Fair
This year the Shelton Elementary Science Fair is going virtual and hands-on. From 5:30 - 7:30 students will participate in a zoom science fair that will begin with a presentation from space scientist and Shelton-dad Beau Bierhaus. From 6 - 6:45 students will join breakout sessions to participate in a hands on STEM activity, and from 6:45 - 7:30 students will share their own science fair projects in breakout rooms. We need STEM professionals who can help moderate the 45-minute hands-on virtual student project, as well as the 45-minute science fair style project sharing session. Ideally volunteers will sign up to moderate both sessions, but they are separate entries in case that isn't possible for some volunteers.
Expectations include signing on 15 minutes early to the event for IT overview and Q and A. Instructions for the hands on science activities will be provided in advance - please feel free to contribute your own ideas by emailing [email protected] or adding to the comments below. Participating families will be picking up any necessary materials for the activity from Shelton in advance. Moderators for the science fair sharing portion will need to keep time to make sure everyone has a chance to present. This year there is no judging or awards, but moderators should plan to provide constructive feedback and ask questions to prompt thoughtful discussion. Please review the available slots below and click on the button to sign up. Thank you!
