Prince of Peace is supporting Food for Our Journey in feeding the hungry of Birmingham. Food for Our Journey is a faith-based initiative that uses a food truck to deliver food to the hungry. With the COVID 19 pandemic, many programs for food insecurity have not been able to serve. Food for Our Journey is meeting the needs of the food-insecure by delivering meals. At POP, we will provide two hot meals each month. If we have enough parishioners who are interested, we can increase our service. Food for Our Journey will pick up the meals we prepare and deliver them directly to the hungry. Please sign up for the food items or volunteer work below. In addition to the food and paper products listed below, we need volunteers to package the individual lunches, load the truck, and clean the serving utensils/kitchen.
Food for Our Journey is often asked by the people they serve for the following items. We are happy to collect any of these items you would like to bring to the church: socks, hygeine kits (travel size toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo, soap), and hand sanitizer. They can also use plastic grocery store bags as clients are often asking for a "to go" bag for their food.
