Please note that we are not accepting nor able to give credit for volunteers seeking to fulfill court-ordered community service hours.
This volunteer event is at The Food Bank of Northwest Louisiana's food distribution pantry at 2307 Texas Avenue, Shreveport, LA 71103.
The success of "The Pantry on Texas," is dependent on YOU - our volunteers, willing to give a little bit of their time during these twice-weekly events! We need volunteer sign ups for every Tuesday and Thursday! Food Bank personnel will also be present. Distribution to clients will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11:00-2:00. The pantry services the 71101, 71103, and 71109 zip codes.
The following positions need to be filled each week! Please help if you can! :
Packers/Sorters: You will help build boxes; sort and pack produce/frozen goods/breads & pastries for distribution later in the day; 8:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. You may sign up for one or the other...or both!! The amount of time this process takes depends on the amount of food donations available for sorting and packing and this unknown until we begin the process.
Registraton: You will help clients complete their registration with a tablet/computer. A training video is linked below and someone will give you instructions upon arrival. It is very user friendly, but being comfortable on a computer helps. 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Please arrive by 10:45 for training and instructions if this is your first time to help.
Food Distribution: You will assist clients in getting their boxes to their vehicles and more. 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. You should be able to load boxes weighing up to 25 pounds multiple times.
It is recommended that all volunteers wear a mask. Please have a mask available. If you have not been vaccinated, you must wear one. Everyone should please plan to arrive 5-10 minutes prior to beginning work in your chosen area. Please no tank tops or revealing clothing. No open-toed shoes!! Please be flexible as you might be asked to assist in another area if needed.
