Loaves and Fishes Dinner - WEDNESDAY, June 26th, 2019

Please JOIN Show-me Dharma on the fourth Wednesday of each month to sponsor a meal and serve 80 to 100 homeless or near-homeless people at "Loaves and Fishes," located at Wilkes Boulevard United Methodist Church, 702 Wilkes Boulevard, Columbia MO, from 4:30 to 6:45 p.m.

The theme for June is Barbeque chicken, baked beans, veggies and cornbread. 

There are a variety of ways that you can be involved :)

Set up is from 4:00-5:00. If you are just dropping off food, meal items should arrive between 4:15 -4:45 p.m.  Serving is from 5:00-6:00, and clean-up is however long it takes but ideally and with enough hands, we will be finished by 6:45. 

At least 25 volunteers are needed to prepare various items for the meal, serve and assist with cleaning up afterwards. If you can serve and stay for clean up, please be sure to sign up below in the Serve and Clean up slots so we know how many people we will have.  

This project is a way to be of service to those in need, and it also helps us build closer relationships with others in our own sangha as we serve our community. 

Loaves and Fishes was started in the mid-1980s by the St. Francis Catholic Worker community and serves a free community meal seven nights a week from 5 to 6 p.m. in the basement at Wilkes Boulevard United Methodist Church.  Besides Wilkes Blvd. church, more than 20 other local faith communities and other organizations help keep Loaves and Fishes going.

When you sign up below, you will receive a confirmation email. Please save the email because it will contain a link allowing you to cancel or change your signup if you need to. 

After you sign up, your name will be displayed on the signup sheet. The other information you provide goes only to church personnel. Your email is required so our system can automatically send you a reminder of your signup two days before the date you selected if you signed up for an activity associated with a specific date.
