Volunteer Information
We have a variety of volunteer needs including staffing road crossings, traffic controllers and set-up helpers. If you sign up for a late night time slot at a road crossing please be aware that the end time is an approximate. Your shift may end earlier than the estimated time or you may be required to stay later.
All volunteers are asked to attend one of the two informational meetings offered prior to the race. The first meeting will be held on Wednesday, January 8th at 6 pm at Voyageur Brewing Company in Grand Marais. A second meeting will be offered on Friday, January 10th at 4 pm at Trail Center Lodge. The date and location for the other meeting has yet to be determined. We will notify you as soon as we hash out those details.
If you cannot attend one of the meetings you will need to make arrangements to meet with the Cathy Quinn (Volunteer Coordinator) on race day prior to your volunteer shift. All volunteers need to be prepared to be outside for extended periods of time in inclement weather. Bring plenty of warm clothes, food and water. Reflective safety vests will be provided to volunteers. The safety of the general public, volunteers, mushers and dogs is the first priority of the Gunflint Mail Run. Thank you for doing your part to make this event a success!
