With a grant from the Swimming Saves Lives Foundation, Swymnut Masters will be running our third annual Adult Learn-to-Swim program this June. Our ALTS program will include two sessions, and each session will be comprised of seven evening classes. With the help of our incredible team of volunteers, we hope to offer free classes to 40 participants.
Session I will run from 6:30-7:15 pm. and Session II from 7:15-8:00 pm. We ask that you arrive 15 minutes early. You are welcome to volunteer for both time slots each evening, or volunteer for one and use the extra lanes to swim a whiteboard workout during the other. We will have a celebratory pizza party following the final Friday night session, and all volunteers are welcome to attend and celebrate.
Prior to the program launch there will be a volunteer training. Training date and details will be sent to volunteers in a separate email. This year we will have coaches on deck running the lessons, with volunteers in the water helping the swimmers master the skills. During the first week of classes, all of the participants will be doing the same skill progression, and during the following two weeks the participants will be grouped by skill level.
Please sign up for a complete session if your schedule allows. The participants are often fearful and nervous. Having a regular volunteer builds trust and provides comfort. If you haven't volunteered with this program before it is truly an amazing experience.
Thank you in advance; this program is only made possible with the help of many volunteers.
