What is Yankee Dental Conference? This annual winter conference, the largest dental conference in New England and the fifth largest in the United States, provides the finest education and the greatest selection of courses in dentistry for the entire dental team. Innovative technology, products, and services are introduced on the exhibit floor. https://www.yankeedental.com/About
What is the Ryan White Dental Program? The RWDP is part of the Boston Public Health Commission. The RWDP facilitates access to oral health care for persons with HIV in Massachusetts and Southern New Hampshire, funded under Ryan White Part A and with funds from the Massachusetts Department of Public Health. This will be the RWDP's 28th year of providing an educational exhibit on HIV oral health issues and infection control at Yankee. The goal is to get accurate info to the dental profession and give students, such as you, an opportunity to also learn more about these issues. To learn more about the Boston Public Health Commission and RWDP, please visit: BPHC Ryan White Dental Program
BPHC RWDP Program Staff: Helene Bednarsh, Cesi Nolasco, Tony Silva and Brianna Willis from the Boston Public Health Commission and fellow dental students from both Harvard and Tufts.
The name of the booth is: Boston Public Health Commission – RWDP.
Transportation: Public transportation: Silver Line (from South Station) towards airport or Yankee: Shuttle busses from Hynes and Copley area hotels. Yankee Dental Congress.
What will be expected of the student volunteers? Dental and dental hygiene students from the Boston area schools will be asked to hand out packets of info and talk to people who stop by the booth. All volunteers will be oriented to the procedures and protocol on site. There may be an opportunity to speak with a volunteer from the New England AIDS Education and Training Center who is a person living with HIV about their experience.
Why should I volunteer? This is a great opportunity to visit the exhibits at Yankee Dental for free, to learn more about Ryan White Part A and Part F, to network with dental professionals and work alongside dental students from the other Boston dental schools.
How many slots can I sign up for? This is a popular event so please sign up for one slot only. As the dates get closer and if there are still spots to fill, you may have an opportunity to sign up for more than one shift. PLEASE use your BU, Harvard or Tufts email address!!
How does the waitlist work? If the shift you want is full, please feel free to add your name to the waitlist. Be sure to include the name of your school (BU, Harvard, Tufts) in the comment section. If a spot for your school opens up, the person first on the waitlist from that school will be offered the position.
Do I need to register for the conference? Everyone will need a badge to get in. There are a limited number of badges available for volunteers to use only during their shift. If you plan to attend Yankee before or after your shift, you will need to register on your own and obtain your own badge.
What should I wear? Professional business dress, please (No scrubs. Absolutely no jeans, t-shirts, shorts, sleeveless or low cut shirts, short skirts, open toe shoes, beach wear, etc.).
