Our volunteers make a huge difference in the lives of those families we serve every year. We hope you'll join us and put your compassion into action.
This year's event will be held on Saturday, December 14th. Sign up for one or more of the following volunteer teams. In addition to volunteering, donations are welcome, but certainly are not required. Should you choose to make a donation in addition to your volunteer time, please enter a dollar amount, then click the "Sign up and pay now" at check-out.
Red Bow Team: Volunteers will tie a red ribbon around a tree, light post, porch railing, or other stationary object on the receiving family's property to help identify the family as a Secret Family recipient. Red ribbons will be tied on Wednesday, December 11th, or Thursday, December 12th. Volunteers will be contacted to determine a time and meeting place for you to receive your red ribbons.
Tree Delivery Team: Tree Delivery volunteers will pick up live Christmas trees from Wasson's Nursery in Fishers and deliver them to each Secret Family's home. Once at the home, volunteers will set-up and decorate the tree with lights and ornaments, unless the recipient family wants to decorate the tree themselves (in which case decorations and lights will be left at the home). Teams of 3-4 volunteers will work together to deliver trees to multiple families during their volunteer shift, but Secret Families will make an effort to group homes in a close proximity to one another. At least one person on each team should have access to a truck or a large SUV.
Shopping Team: The Shopping Team is in charge of buying the gifts that are given to each Secret Family. Teams of approximately four volunteers will be assigned several families for whom they will shop. Volunteers will be given a per person budget for each family member, as well as suggested gift ideas. Roughly 30 minutes of shopping time is allotted per family. Volunteers will need to arrive at the Meijer in Noblesville at 5:45 AM to register, with shopping starting promptly at 6 AM. Donuts, milk and water will be available at registration.
Wrapping Team: The Wrapping Team ensures that each present received by our Secret Families is neatly wrapped in the Spirit of Christmas. Wrapping paper, scissors, and tape are provided - all that's needed are your wrapping skills! This is a great team for families with children, youth groups, business teams, and other groups to participate in! We will have two wrapping sessions this year at Wasson's Nursery. The first group of volunteers will wrap presents from 8:30 AM - 10:15 AM. The second shift will begin at 10:30 AM and wrap until completed.
Present Delivery Team: We encourage everyone to get involved in the delivery of the presents. We sincerely believe that it is important for our volunteers to have a face-to-face encounter with at least a few of the families that your hard work and dedication have impacted. We promise you'll come away from the experience as grateful as the Secret Families! Volunteers will work in teams for deliveries (Teams can be a family, co-workers, a church group, group of friends, etc.) Two shifts will make deliveries. The first shift of volunteers should arrive at 10:15 AM for check-in and instructions, with deliveries to begin promptly at 10:30 AM. The second shift should arrive at 11:15 AM for check-in and instructions, with deliveries to begin promptly at 11:30 AM
