Central Bucks Family YMCA

2018 Hope of the Harvest

The Y's Togetherhood team (member led community service) is looking for volunteers to help with Hope of the Harvest.

On the grounds of Delaware Valley University, fruits and vegetables are being planted and harvested to feed our friends and neighbors in need. Community partners have collaborated to provide Bucks County food pantries with locally grown, healthy produce to supplement the non-perishable goods they distribute. This charitable initiative, known as Hope of the Harvest, produced over 15,000 pounds of food in its inaugural growing season (2012), 35,000 pounds in 2013, and 50,000 pounds annually since then! The initiative has provided cucumbers, cantaloupes, sweet corn, squash, tomatoes, broccoli, apples, kale, potatoes, lettuce and much more. Hope of the Harvest Charitable Garden partners are Bucks County Opportunity Council (BCOC), Delaware Valley University, Philabundance, The United Way of Bucks County, The Land O'Lakes Foundation, The Reinvestment Fund and The Lehigh Valley Community Foundation/ Pharo Family Fund.
