St. Francis De Sales Catholic Church Homeless Ministry

Missionaries of Charity Soup Kitchen Visit on Saturday, 01/12/19

Our Homeless Ministry group will be serving breakfast and lunch to the homeless alongside Saint Teresa of Calcutta's Missionaries of Charity in their DC soup kitchen. Volunteer hours are from 8:30 to 11:15 AM (parking is available). If you volunteer as a helper and need a ride, please list your phone number on the comment section next to your name when you sign up, and one of our team members will contact you to arrange transportation.

Our parish will be providing all the food for both meals, breakfast and lunch, on Saturday, 12/08. The number of homeless guests varies, but plan for 60-70 servings for lunch.

Of special note, any extra food is served to the homeless guests the following day as well as to pregnant homeless women staying in a shelter also run by the Missionaries of Charity.

If you can donate food/other items but are not able to travel to the soup kitchen, please deliver your donations to the parish hall kitchen in the main church building basement (not the parish center kitchen) by Friday, 12/07, at noon. Please also add a "Homeless Ministry" label to all donations and do not leave any foods that need refrigeration out on the counter. One of our volunteers will pick up all donations and transport them to DC.

Contact Maria at [email protected], with any questions related to this sign up. Thank you for your love, charity and generosity! SFDS Homeless Ministry.
