Into the Woods Volunteer Roles

Hi Parents! The clock is ticking down to the opening of MPCS's production of Into the Woods! In order to make this show a success, we need help from our cast parents. Please consider volunteering for one or more volunteer roles. The description of each role is as follows:

Front of House Roles

  • Front of House Coordinator- (Erica Mutch) Is main point of contact for Front of House volunteers. Front of House volunteers should direct questions to Erica Mutch.
  • VIP Seat Coordinator-Assign VIP seats for each show (signs will be printed for you)TBD
  • PR Posters- Put posters up around town at local businesses- Katherine Thomas has posters and will send them home with your child.
  • Main Event Cast Party Coordinator- Contact Main Event to plan a Laser Tag group event. Purchase and bring cake and related supplies to event. Plan to stay for event as a chaperone
  • Ad sales to local businesses- Contact local business (on phone, by foot or online) to sell ad space for program. Contact Erica Mutch to get details on cost. Assist with ad creation if requested by business. Send Ads to Katherine Thomas.
  • Applause Notes Coordinator- Erica Mutch will send out an email to parents regarding Applause Notes. Parents will forward notes to you. You will get confirmation of payment (screen shot of payment receipt), check to see that max word guidelines have been followed, and that punctuation is accurate. You will create the applause notes (add photos if purchased with note) in Adobe and PDF each one. Contact Erica Mutch with questions.
  • Cast Board-(Erica Mutch) Create Cast Board in theme of the show. Have photos printed to add to board.
  • Yard Signs- (Katherine Thomas) Distribute to students and place around the school 
  • Rose Station Donation- Purchase 3 bundles of 24 roses at Costco (Whoever assumes this role will be donating the roses- Bundles of roses go for about $16 each at Costco, but can be purchased wherever) Make paper tags to be tied to the roses (attendees will be purchasing these and writing messages on them for cast members).
  • Rose Station Sales - Work at the rose station table in lobby and collect money and distribute roses. Katherine will bring vases, tablecloth and cash box
  • Donations Coordinator (Erica Mutch) Send email to parents requesting auction items. Collect auction items and put on table. Coordinate calling of auction.
  • Raffle Sales- Collect Money and distribute tickets. Purchase a roll of raffle tickets (you can get these at party city or online). Sell tickets in lobby prior to performance.
  • Usher- Stand by one of two entrances. Make sure patrons are entering only at the lobby entrance. Make sure patrons entering have purchased a ticket and were given a sticker. Make sure guests do not enter theatre prior to the appropriate time. Allow only Volunteers in and out of the theatre until show time.
  • Will Call- Work the will call table prior to the show. 
  • Ticket Sales- Work the ticket sales table prior to the show

Back of House Roles

  • Back of House Coordinator (1 per show)- Is main point of contact for back of house volunteers. All back of house volunteers will direct questions to Jennifer Osborne.
  • Lead Costume Coordinator- (Katherine Melioris)
  • Costume Assistants (2 per show)- Check costumes in and out at each show and help to keep track of costume pieces. Must arrive at least an hour prior to show and stay a half hour after to help organize.
  • Hair and Make-up (4 per show)- Help students with hairstyles and make-up. Please arrive at least 1 hour prior to show.
  • Backstage Parent (1 per show)- Remains backstage during show. Will work together with the backstage manager to help keep cast quiet, help with any quick changes, prop collection and help cast to stay on cue. Please arrive at least 45 minutes prior to show.
