During the Point-In-Time homeless count in Plano, members of Custer Road United Methodist Church saw a food insecurity problem, and additional needs north of downtown Plano. From the observation of CRUMC's teams that night, "People Who Love People" was born!
Now we're a group of faith-based interdenominational volunteers who share meals with Plano homeless and food insecure near the Plano Day Labor Center every Monday and Thursday morning, as well as nonperishable food that can help through the week. We gather just south of the Center in the DART parking lot on those mornings, typically about 7:30. God's love is shown, food is provided, and friendships are made! This service can only happen through generous donations with easy ways to order and deliver, or to drop-off.
You can order online and have items delivered to Doug Nickols or drop off at his front porch, at 1404 Scarborough, Plano, 75075. Non-perishable items for the weekly packs can be ordered and delivered to Christie Varner, 8713 Berwick Drive, Plano, 75025. Financial donations are welcome through gift cards or Venmo, our account is PeopleWhoLovePeople, and if you're asked for a four-digit code, it's 4458.
We also appreciate donations of new or gently used Bibles in English or Spanish, as well as devotional or inspirational books. These can be delivered to Lanie Williams, 3308 Runabout Court, Plano 75023, or brought to the site.
