QUESTIONS ABOUT BEING IN THE TALENT SHOW
Q: Can I be in more than one act?
A: Yes. Students may perform in no more than ONE individual act or TWO acts if one of those performances includes a group act.
Q: How long can my act be?
A: No more than three minutes. Please have your CD ready for audition. I DO NOT supply CDs or karaoke tracks for you. Once you are accepted into the talent show, DO NOT change your act (or even your song) without contacting Mrs. Bolstad first.
Q: Will students be cut or not invited to be in the talent show?
A: Yes, this may happen. Students whose act is not family friendly; Students who miss their audition time; Students who do not attend the dress rehearsal; Students who are not prepared at audition and make something up on the spot.
Q: Does it cost money?
A: Yes and no. There is no cost to audition or be in the show. But there will be a fee to watch the show.
Q: This is my first year taking piano, can I audition?
A: I am asking all first-year music students to wait one year until there is enough time to learn more fundamentals before performing for an audience. Many beginning musicians have recitals at which they perform, the talent show is to entertain a big crowd.
Q: Will we need to audition in costume?
A: No, just bring your music if you're using a track of music. If you have a costume that is necessary for me to see, you can bring it with you to the audition.
Q: I won't be ready for my audition, should I still do it?
A: Yes, you may audition if you are mostly ready. Make sure you explain to me where you are in the process during your audition, but any acts who are still thinking about what they should do will not advance.
Q: Can I bring friends to my audition? Can I bring my mom?
A: Anybody can come to your audition who will not add to your nervousness! Preference given to close family. However, friends will be asked to wait in the waiting area during your audition.
All auditions taking place in the music room on the dates below. Auditions are 5-minute time slots so please be on time and bring all your music and props with you. One time slot for each act you are performing. No more than two acts. See Q&A above for details.
