Adult Education Nights
This Lent, come out to another set of our Adult Education Nights where we will be covering the topics of sin and reconciliation! Join us Sunday, March 1st for an informational night on right vs. wrong and how we know something is a sin. The following night, Monday, March 2nd please join us again for an evening covering the Sacrament of Reconciliation and how to make a good confession!
Below is a summary for each night:
Sunday, March 1st, 2020: How Do I Know if Something is a Sin?
One of the questions that priests and religious teachers get from time to time is simple, "...how do I know if something is a sin or not?" While our Catholic faith offers a solid moral theology, and while some things are "obviously right or wrong," there are some areas of life in which some people experience genuine ambiguity and uncertainty. This session will focus not on "a list of sins," but, rather, some of the basics that we are called to rely on when discerning and understanding sin in our life.
Monday, March 2nd, 2020: The Sacrament of Reconciliation: How to Make a Good Confession
The Sacrament of Reconciliation can be a source of great comfort and healing for us and an intimate encounter with Christ and his forgiveness. Sometimes, however, we get out of the routine of going, are too nervous to go, or perhaps even question whether or not God really forgives us. At the same time, there is a risk of our becoming scrupulous and the sacrament becoming routine and mechanical. This session will focus on some of the basics regarding the sacrament and a healthy, balanced approach to it.
