FPC Winter Warmth

Coat Distribution

Every year, First Presbyterian Church in Spartanburg sponsors the Winter Warmth mission. This mission provides a new coat to each child in need who is identified by school counselors in Spartanburg County. We would not be able to implement this mission without all of our wonderful volunteers. Volunteers help with every aspect of this mission from setting up and sorting coats, to shopping with families, to cleaning up and writing thank you letters.

Please volunteer to help on the day of coat distribution, November 16th.

On Winter Warmth distribution day, receiving parents and children sometimes begin lining up as early as 7:00am eager to “shop” for a new coat. Volunteers from First Presbyterian church, as well as other volunteers from throughout the community, walk each child and his/her parent(s) through the aisles of hundreds and hundreds of coats; the child is allowed to select just the right style and color of the coat s/he likes, and the volunteer assists with making sure that the fit of the coat is correct. This is a happy day and almost every child proudly leaves the building dressed in style for cold weather.

Please help us by signing up today, and invite your friends and family to do the same! *Please, no volunteers or children present younger than 15 years of age. Childcare will NOT be provided.
