2018 Summer Graduation Ceremony

3:00 p.m.

Thank you for signing up to assist with graduation.  Here are a few details about commencement day-

  • Ceremony begins at 3:00 p.m. in the Chester Fritz Auditorium
  • Graduation Ceremony Assistants (GCAs) and Event Ambassadors are asked to report by 1:30 p.m. and check-in with Jill in the Usher Room located on the lower level.
  • You will wear a UND vest to easily identify you as UND staff. Please wear dark pants, white shirts and comfortable shoes.  Remember to wear your UND nametag also.
  • GCA and Event Ambassador roles may change the day of commencement because of on-site needs.
  • Once the ceremony is underway, you are free to leave unless you have a role later in the afternoon.
  • More details about your role will be e-mailed in late July.

Check in staff and student marshals; assist in locating marshal gowns and volunteer vests; pin on carnations to marshals and volunteers

Program Distribution and Line-up Room Supervisor (2)

Hand out programs to graduates and direct them to pick up their name card; be prepared to answer questions about the ceremony and the facility.

Distribute Name Cards to Graduates (4)

Assist the Registrar's Office Staff in distributing name cards to graduates; hand out honor medallions to eligible graduates and direct graduates to line-up location behind their college and degree signs

Stand at the bottom or top of the ramp outside the line-up room to direct traffic - graduates into rehearsal room; faculty to dressing room and then to rehearsal room for line-up

Greeter in CFA lobby to welcome graduates, families, and friends. Direct guests to second level for seating; graduates to lower level line-up room; faculty to lower level dressing room & line-up; platform group to the Green Room.

Position yourself by a door to the auditorium on second floor. Greet guests and give them a program.

Work with student marshals in the auditorium to protect seats for graduates; assist with special seating and wheelchair seating

Faculty Assistant

Go to Women's Chorus Room to assist faculty with regalia making sure hoods are on correctly. Direct faculty to line-up room in the lower level of CFA. Help marshal distribute number cards so we have enough chairs on stage.

Go to the Green Room and assist student marshal with lining up group. Help platform members with regalia.

Stand on stage during the conferring of degrees to move graduates across the stage at the direction of the production staff.
