Westover Farmers Market
Please select the assignment and time slot for your volunteer shift. Feel free to sign up for multiple weeks in advance. As a thanks, all volunteers get a free Westover Farmers Market t-shirt to wear during their shift!
If you cannot make the volunteer slot, please come back to this sign up page and delete your signup so the time slot is free for another person to step in.
Market managers will contact you ahead of your first shift to ensure you are aware of special guidance and market operations, especially due to COVID-19-related circumstances. Facial coverings are required while inside the market. Latex gloves are optional.
This is an outdoor activity. Check the weather in advance and bring appropriate clothes and gear. Weather protection is far more important than style! Don't forget your WFM t-shirt!
Here is a brief description of the tasks:
Set-up (7:00 - 8:00 a.m.)
Alongside market managers—set up yellow caution tape around the market, covid signage, and orange safety fencing around perimeter; set up market booth as a frontgate, and help vendors if they need it.
Market Monitors – Early (8:00 – 10:00 a.m) or Late (10:00 a.m – 12:00 p.m.)
Generally monitor the market for crowding and back-ups, and encourage patrons to move through the market from entrance to exit (and not in the opposite direction); ensure patrons are not congregating; facilitate when lines form at a vendor booth so that the general traffic is not impeded; assist patrons in picking up pre-orders if they are unable to enter market or approach a vendor.
There are three post for monitors: front gate, two within the market, and exit gate. Market monitors will likely start in one spot and rotate about halfway through the shift.
People Counters - (Early 8:00 – 10:00 a.m) or Late (10:00 a.m – 12:00 p.m.)
Your post will be at the front gate, where you'll record traffic into the market and help us understand when are the busiest times.
Closing (12:30 - 1:00 p.m.)
Alongside the market managers: Pack up the market tent supplies; remove yellow caution tape break down the WFM tent for transport; remove and roll up the orange safety fencing on the street and market traffic signage. Monitor traffic as the fences are removed and before all the vendors have left.
Find us on Facebook and Instagram for market updates that may relate to your shift.
