Paradigm Naturopathic Kids Triathlon 2019

We require a large number of volunteers to make this event fun and safe for all of the athletes.  We would like to have one parent volunteer for each family with children participating in the event.  Please sign up to volunteer when you register your child for the race.  If you have questions about volunteering you can contact our volunteer coordinators (Jenna Hunter & Carey Keith at [email protected])

Set Up/Transition (6)

Assists athletes setting up and in transition.

 

Crowd Control & Morning Pick Up (5)

Helps to direct spectators and keep the course clear. Assists with directing participants to desired areas.

 

SAT&SUN - Registration + Body Marking (5)

This position requires Sat & Sun availability. Perfect for parents who have kids in the race and will be there anyway. Help out with registration and body marking.

 

Timing Chip Hand Out (2)

Hand out timing chips to registrants.

 

Timers (4)

Assist with the timing of the event and recording competitors finishing times.

 

Announcer

Mel Spooner.

 

Announcer Assistant

Assist the announcer. This is an off the mic position.

 

Marshall (2)

Heat marshalls. Helps to get kids excited, cheer them on, collect athletes in marhsalling area, walk athletes to start, head count.

Starts waves on time, final reminders to kids, getting them pumped up too.

 

Lifeguard (5)

Lifeguards - paddling (up to 2) or in the water for the younger age group swims. Qualified lifeguards to monitor the swim course and keep kids safe.

 

Paddler (10)

Paddle boarders - to keep an eye on kids in the water and monitor for safety.

Swim Exit Counter (2)

Counts kids exiting the water. Knows how many kids entered the water with each wave, counts swimmers as they exit the water. May also help direct swimmers towards the transition area or help crowd control the swim exit.

Finish Line Volunteer (2)

Prior to the race start - marks athletes with body markers. Once race course open - helps with timing chip removal and other finish line tasks. Directs flow out of finish.

Bike Course Ambassador (23)

Helps keep course clear of spectators and public. Provides info as needed (detour routes/ times of closure). NOTE - this is not a traffic control position, professional traffic controllers will be in place.

Directs athletes around turn. Instructs athletes to slow down and comply with triathlon rules. - Experience with triathlon required*

 

Bike Turn Judge

Keeps record of athlete numbers at bike turn around, for later verification.

 

Bike Dismount Line (3)

Slows athletes prior to dismount - Directs athletes into lanes - Ensure athletes off before line.

Own bike required *Patrols bike course on mtn bike. Acts as sweep (initiate course changes.)

 

Bike Mount Line

Ensures athletes are not on bike before crossing line.

 

Run Course Marshall & Parking (2)

Directs athletes on run course, helps facilite morning drop off area.

 

Run Course Ambassador (6)

Keeps runners moving in right direction. Helps keep course clear of spectators, public. Positioned beside professional traffic control to answer any questions about the race from public.

Help the splash n dash coordinator with the little ones.

 

After the race -Take down crew (6)

Help with equipment take down after race. Please note if you have pickup truck. This is a great position for those who want to watch the entire race.
