Family Promise of Greater Indianapolis continues to rent and furnishing apartments as an alternative this year as emergency homeless shelters for families until they can find permanent housing. They are using this new model while congregations are closed and can't host families as usual in their Interfaith Hospitality Network program.
We have an opportunity to assist with another appartment. Can you support this effort by buying or donating a new or gently used item on this needs list? We do not have a set date for the next apartment. Once a date is know I will let you know so we can accelarate the process. Just sign your name and chruch next to an item(s), then go buy it, order it, or find it used. You can either drop off the item or have it delivered to one of the following locations:
- 3325 E Loretta Drive, Indianapolis, IN 46227 (For Southport UMC donations)
- 7995 E 21st Street, Indianapolis, IN 46219 (For Old Bethel donations)
- 8170 Hague Road, Indianapolis, IN 46256 (For Faith Presbyterian donations)
Using this list avoids duplicate purchases of the same items.
Please do not buy expensive items, but only affordable ones, as Family Promise will be replacing them frequently due to the high level of use the items will get.
If you have questions, email Maggie Lucas at [email protected] When all items are collected, we will move them into a vacant apartment using Family Promise's trailer as soon as a lease is signed.
Furniture is being collected separately by Family Promise's partner Mustard Seed, a nonprofit furniture bank in Fishers, IN. If you have gently used furniture to donate, call them at 317-572-5724 (they pick up). It may find it's way to one of the apartment shelters eventually!
Thank you for your support, as we could not do this without you!
