This sign-up is for the 2018 Chaperone Competition Season.
(Chaperones and Pit Pushers ONLY! NOT Prop crew.)
We have 4 Competition trips planned for this year:
September 15th at Wheeling HS
October 6th at Romeoville HS
October 13th is a double at Providence Catholic and Lincoln Way HS
October 20th is at ISU for State.
Please be available for the entire day! Specific times will be announced about a week ahead of each date, after Mr. Krause receives the schedule from the competition school. Approximately the day looks like this:
Students practice at school in morning around 8:00 am, break for lunch, provided by FBPO (including chaperones) at school before boarding school buses.
Here's what a chaperone does:
Provide encouragement, TLC, first aid as needed, water, and keep tabs on the band members!
Chaperones are assigned specific buses (We travel by school bus w/ exception of State, we travel by coach) and will ride that bus both ways. On the buses, chaperones need to monitor students behave with appropriate behavior, are sitting down, not making messes, etc.
At the competitions, follow instructions from Krause and Lead Chaperone(s) as to when to
* get off buses
* change into uniform
Chaperones, accompany their assigned (by lead chaperone) sections to warm up and help water, and provide any other needs as they arise. After WN performs, we'll return to buses for further instructions and changing to go into stands.
Once in stands, Chaperones need to keep tabs on students and sit dispersed among them. This is a great time to get to know the marchers!
Once back to school, please make sure your assigned bus has been cleaned and emptied. All students put away equipment and help unload trucks. No student is dismissed until final debrief by Krause and of courses "Eyes with Pride!"
These are specific roles that need to be filled at each competition:
*Water Wagon Wrangler
*Guard Mom (or Dad)
*Health & Safety Guru
* 3 Sound Equipment Pushers
* 3 Equipment Transporters
FYI not all the Pit helpers need to be official chaperones, if you want to help with Pit only and not ride buses, please let me know.)
Communication ahead of competition will come via email and day of event will be done via group text.
