Pickerington Food Pantry
*New procedure beginnning August 27th: We still need volunteers but instead of packing boxes, we will be allowing 2 clients to shop inside the pantry at a time. Volunteers will be assigned stations to do things such as: wipe down carts/door handles between clients and direct clients through the pantry. Masks will be required of volunteers and clients.*
The pantry is asking for your help as we distribute boxed food items to those in need during the COVID-19 emergency. Please only sign-up if you are willing and able to help pack boxes, and can lift the 40lb boxes and place them in client vehicles.
The health and well-being of our customers, volunteers and staff are top priorities for us. To that end and due to the most recent issued Stay at Home Order, the Pantry will limit the number of volunteers, their amount of time at the pantry, and appropriately distance them while they assist us in getting food to those in need.
Volunteers will help with preparing and distrubuting boxes to clients, and preparing the pantry for the next client day, including light clean up and restocking shelves.
We will also restrict box distribution to clients from 10:30AM to 11:30AM on Thursday and Saturdays only. It is imperative for clients to be in line to receive food within the published times. Our volunteers will not be retained at the pantry waiting for clients to arrive.
Clients are reminded we are operating under a pre-packaged box model. Clients will not be permitted to shop/select items. Upon arrival to the pantry, please proceed down the alley in an orderly fashion to the back garage area (similar to Holiday Basket distribution). Clients need to remain in their vehicle. Clients will be asked for their name, and registration will be completed by a volunteer for them. Clients do not need to hand volunteers proof of residency information.
Please continue to call Fairfield County 2-1-1, or (740) 687-0500, to schedule services. It is important that we know you are in need of assistance to be able to have food ready and waiting for you.
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we all look out for one another during this public health crisis. Thank you.
We will reevaluate pantry operations per any orders issued by Gov. DeWine. Please check back periodically for changes.
