CHAMPS

Champions Sessions @ L.C. Bird

The Chesterfield Chamber's CHAMPS committee thanks you for your interest in the Champions program! This program is an opportunity for Chamber business members to get involved in supporting Chesterfield County Public Schools in their workforce readiness. This year we are implementing Junior Achievement's Career Success curriculum. Each session is themed around a skill that will help students become better prepared for today's work place.

Junior Achievement provides a turn-key volunteer solution that includes comprehensive training, materials and support. Those interested in volunteering as a presenter must attend more than one session prior to registering to present. The JA training is required and will take place (TBD) We are looking for volunteers to present the material (nine in total) and volunteers to act as assistants to the presenters (16 in total).

Volunteer Presenters

You will be trained in classroom management, understanding and delivering the JA curriculum, working with the classroom teacher, and communicating effectively with students.

The time commitment is minimal:

One hour JA Training

One hour prep to get comfortable with the material and connect with your assistants

One and a half hour presentation (45 minutes worth of content)

Volunteer Assistants

The presenter will connect with you prior to the session to share their knowledge of classroom management, working with the classroom teacher, communicating effectively with students, and to share how you can best assist them.

The time commitment is minimal:

Thirty minutes to connect with the presenter

One and a half hour presentation (45 minutes worth of content)

All sessions will be held L.C. Bird High School located at 10301 Courthouse Road, Chesterfield, VA 23832. To volunteer, you must register with CCPS as a volunteer.  Upon entering the school, you must show ID and sign-in at the office.

We encourage you to sign up for any of the opportunities below. It's easy and fun! There are a variety of ways to get involved including sponsorship opportunities.  Feel free to contact our committee chairman, Justin Lopus at [email protected] with questions or concerns.
